Managing Public Servant Transitions and Reforms in Bangladesh Post-Sheikh Hasina Government

It is not feasible to quickly replace public servants in Bangladesh who were allies of the ousted Sheikh Hasina government. This raises critical questions about how the new government will manage day-to-day operations and implement reforms. To address this, the government could establish a 60-70-member oversight body to monitor the functioning of various departments. Can create 5 member committees from this body could conduct public hearings with department officials and advisers. Additionally, the government could replace key positions by promoting existing officials or through contract hiring.

To ensure transparency and accountability, members of this body should be required to submit their asset declarations within two weeks of their appointment.
